Originating in a garage, getting busted by the Federal Government in 2013, and legally coming to be in 2015, Montagne Russe focuses on producing outstanding single-vineyard Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah from cool-climate regions such as the Petaluma Gap and the greater Sonoma Coast AVA.
The winery takes its name from the French term for “roller coaster”, given its roller coaster ride of becoming an official winery. Owner and winemaker, Kevin Bersofsky, had also designed roller coasters as a mechanical engineering undergraduate, before he began his self-taught path in winemaking.
As of January 2024, the tasting room has introduced an inviting twist with its Vino & Vinyls Record Shop, offering over 2,000 vinyl records that complement the wine tasting experience, ranging from classic to contemporary artists.
